Join the Science Faculty at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) as a Research Development Manager and become an integral part of our External Relations Team. 

The Opportunity

As a Research Development Manager, you will be integral in managing and coordinating the grant application and pre-award process. Your agility, goal-orientation, quality-driven mindset, and self-motivation will be key in identifying new funding sources, developing resources, preparing proposals, and collaborating with stakeholders. Your role will also involve supporting the SDU Climate Cluster (SCC) and the Biology Department in their cross-cutting research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discover and pursue new funding avenues and grant opportunities.
  • Transform ideas into grant proposals in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Onboard new academic staff and acquaint them with national and international funding landscapes.
  • Participate in research and external funding strategy development.
  • Provide high-level support to researchers by assisting in writing, preparing, and submitting winning project proposals.
  • Contribute to office tasks such as project costing, web-content maintenance, data analysis, event organization, and leadership support.

What We Seek:

  • Relevant academic degree (PhD level preferred) in science (Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Pharmacy or Climate research).
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm, team spirit, supportiveness, and flexibility.
  • Experience in EU research projects fundraising and/or Danish foundation bids is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak periods due to project specificity and strict deadlines.

About Us:

The External Relations Team is part of the Dean's office at the Faculty of Science, SDU, which hosts 600 employees and 2000 students across four departments. We bridge project management, policy intelligence, liaison with funders, capacity building, and leadership support with hands-on grant writing.
